SUDS CITY CAR STUFF
Welcome
to our Suds City "Car Stuff" Page
(As we grow, more pages will be added)
We're gonna launch onto about 4 tangents...
1- Old Cars, and Restoration
2 - Cool New Cars
3 - Auto Design & Art
4 - Fuel & Economy
DESIGN
For me, the "streamline" style has always been a kicker. In fact,
I already have a homepage on streamline. Hit Streamline
to visit it.
While not a fan of the Chrysler (Desoto) Airstream of the 30s,

I personally think the 47-49 Buick & Cadillac Sedanettes got
it right.
A great rendition is ZZ Tops Cadzilla.
Some of the Italian designs, like the P-400 Miura from Lambourgini
look pretty...sexy

The early Alpha designs looked like rocketships.
A more recent example is the 61-63 T-Birds.
CLASSICS
"Classics" are just that: re-renditions of the really
geat looking cars of the past.
Design ideas come from everywhere. The 1955 Chevy had a grill inspired
by Ferarri.

The start of the "tailfin" wars, were inspired by the
vertical stabilizers of the P-38 fighter.
Succesful re-renditions include the VW Bug ...
the Mini, now BMW ...
the newest Mustang ...
and the latest pony cars, including the Dodge Challenger ...
the Camaro ....
Speaking of "car as art", how about this VW Microbus ball, eh ?
Here's a few Mercedes diesel streamliners...
MILES PER GALLON
Right now, a lot of cars get 20 MPG. No big deal.
The Prius gets about, what 50 MPG ?
My friend Diane's 90s VW diesel gets about 50, as well.
Did you know there is an Automotive X Prize ? Yup, the group that's
offering funds for a private rocketship is also offering a prize
has been offered for the first car to get 100 miles per gallon
The aim of the AXP is to prime the market to demand cars that use
less oil and produce fewer greenhouse-gas emissions. "There's
a very large industrial complex married to an old solution,"
says X Prize Foundation founder Peter Diamandis. "If we do
this right, we're going to draw a line in the sand and say all the
cars we drove before this date are relegated to the history museums."
Already Tata in India is offering an "Air Car," driven on compressed
air, that gets over 90 MPG, and goes about 1000 miles.
FUEL
Do you know where your gasoline comes from ? Did you know most of
the gasoline in the Wisconsin area comes from a refinery in Superior,
WI, that gets it's oil from Alberta, Canada.

In fact, 40% of the Midwest's oil comes from Alberta, from oil sands.
